"Antikythera" movement - to be precise, it is a movement tribute to the ancient "machine" from the ancient Greek (between BC 1st and 2nd century).Close to the Mechanism, as a modern tribute to it, the Museum’s visitors can see the Hublot “Antikythera” watch, which miniaturizes all the functions of the Mechanism known until 2008. Hublot’s precision timepiece is a miniaturized tribute to the Antikythera Mechanism, an ancient, but complex astronomical computer. An intricate watch, with 295 components driving time, solar and lunar calendars. Hublot’s in-house mastermind Mathias Buttet made it a personal project to recreate the mechanism of the Antikythera in the size of a timepiece. He did so and Hublot produced just four of them – never to be officially sold aside from at one or two special auctions.
