You just used audemars piguet and Walmart in the same post. Those brands/companies are mutually exclusive. Wear the watch and enjoy it and don't worry about scratches until you send it in for service. A Royal Oak can sustain a few polishing before loosing some of its aestethic (polishing = displacing the metals on the surface, hence softening/altering the angles). Even though it does scratch, it is pretty easy to bring it back to good shape. Some of the whacks that produced the deep scratches would definitely have chipped or shattered a sapphire crystal. Does anybody have advice for giving the bezel a good and thorough cleaning?
It's super easy to mess up the direction, the depth, the consistency, etc, and it really, really shows as obviously different if you don't get it just right. The polishing, brushing, and beveling of a great watch can make up to 50% of the cost a watch, and Audemars Piguet, since Royal Oak No. A001 has been at the absolute forefront of case finishing on sports watches.
For reference I have worn this AP for probably 3 months straight without changing for another daily and only had minor scratches on those two links. I also have two young kids so, it is quite easy to get messy playing around with them.
